About Methylene Blue

The distinguished National Library of Medicine (NLM) selected The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek as their important book club selection. While writing the work, I conducted extensive research and interviews with doctors, hematologists and vascular surgeons regarding Methemoglobinemia and the Methylene Blue drug. (It was the drug our dear Cussy was given, and also the treatment doctors prescribed for the factual blue-skinned Fugates of Kentucky)

Briefly, I just want to let you know that Methylene blue is a very old drug, first invented in the late 1800s. In the 1930s it became commonly used to treat cyanide poisoning and other blood disorders like congenital and acquired Methemoglobinemia. It can also be a very dangerous and debilitating drug. Please use it only under the advice and care of a physician.

The National Library of Medicine is a wonderful resource tool for both healthcare professionals and the public. It also confronts health misinformation and provides facts and is a valuable service to the public. Its goal is to advance the progress of medicine and improve public health.

Take care of yourself during these chaotic times -  remember to do your research from factual information which doctors and scientists have provided.
